Shows and Performances

Fancy Nancy Splendiferous Christmas: Let’s face it, everybody has their own idea of what constitutes the perfect Christmas. Fancy Nancy wants her elegant wrapping paper, festive decorations, and Christmas cookies with sprinkles, and she has her eyes set on a sparkly new tree topper. But if everything went according to plan, there wouldn’t be any interesting conflicts to solve in a play, would there? This attempt at a splendiferous Christmas unfolds over five shows, December 9–11, at the Chance Theater in nearby Anaheim.

The Magic of Christmas: Another show-stopping performance held at La Mirada this year is The Magic Of Christmas. The Young Americans perform a spectacular show full of lights, music, and dance—what better way to get in the Christmas spirit than hearing some of your favorite classic Christmas tunes? You’ll want to get tickets early and reserve your spot for this festive holiday event.
The Nutcracker at the Grove of Anaheim: Perish the thought of a holiday season without seeing Clara falling asleep and turning her woeful winter night into a fanciful feast and wooden toys come to life. Yes, The Nutcracker will be performed by the Anaheim Ballet in all its glory with the Irvine Symphony at the Grove at Anaheim on November 25 at 7 p.m.

Garden Grove Holiday Drive: The City of Garden Grove is reaching out to the community and asking for help to bring gifts to local families and children who may not have any gifts to open this year. If you are looking for ways to give back to your community and help a family in need, this is the perfect opportunity: You can donate a toy, board game, or art supplies—unwrapped—by December 9 and be a part of the force that will bring the holiday season to those who are struggling. Monetary donations are also accepted, and tax receipts are available upon request. Give back to your Garden Grove community this year and experience the true joy of giving.

23rd Annual APA Community Holiday Toy Drive: The APA Community Holiday Toy Drive Committee is composed of volunteers from nonprofits and professional organizations with a mission to give young children of low-income families the gift of joy and hope during the holiday season. In the past 22 years, more than 30,000 toys have been collected and given during the Holiday Toy Drive.

Kitchen Assistance: Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a warm home-cooked meal this holiday season. There are people and families right here in Orange Country that cannot provide even basic necessities for themselves or those they love. To answer this need, Bracken’s Kitchen is preparing and providing more meals now for the community than ever before, and they hope to continue increasing the number of people they can serve. If you are able to volunteer your time, your skills, or even extra fresh food, Bracken’s Kitchen can use the help. Learn more about volunteering in the kitchen and sign up for a shift to come help.

We at Solara Apartments want to make sure that our residents and everyone around the town have a fun and safe holiday season. As you leave your apartment for various shows and shops, make sure you extinguish any open flames—like burning cinnamon candles—and unplug the festive lights that might adorn your tree. And if you have chosen to go with a real tree this year, make sure you are keeping it hydrated all season long to reduce the risk of a house fire.

Sticking around Garden Grove for the holidays has its perks. Make the most of this holiday season by exploring some of these great ideas. We can’t wait for the fun moments you will have and the memories you will make.

We’d love to see your holiday fun! If you decorate for the holidays or try out one of the activities above, post a photo on social media, tag us, and use #TisTheSeasonAtAMC.
