Read about Solara’s Eco-Friendly Apartments in Garden Grove

With the current climate change scenario, between 24 million and 700 million people are expected to be displaced by 2030 due to water scarcity. Considering this along with the issues facing our planet—like climate change, biodiversity loss, and plastic pollution—there’s no better time than now to live more sustainably and prioritize an eco-friendly lifestyle.

Here at Solara Apartments, we want to do all we can to protect the environment and promote sustainable living—not just by preserving water, but also by reducing unnecessary waste. Here are three ways we live green at Solara.

We Cut Down on Water Consumption

Because Garden Grove is prone to droughts, we do all we can to use the least amount of water possible. To start, our property has drought-tolerant landscaping, which means we use plants that don’t require much water—like succulents. We have also installed a drip irrigation system and replaced some grass and mulch areas with beautiful stone and astroturf. This allows us to save gallons of water while still maintaining the sleek appearance of our community.

Indoors, we save on water with our plumbing system. The average toilet uses about 3.5 gallons of water every time it flushes, but our eco-friendly, low-flow toilets use about 20 percent less than that. These toilets make a big difference in our water use; one low-flow toilet alone can save up to 13,000 gallons of water per year!

We Promote Recycling

One of the best ways to live green is to recycle. On top of using recycling bins in our office, we also encourage all residents to recycle. Items you can recycle include plastic bottles and containers, empty cans, paper, and flattened cardboard. However, make sure not to recycle food, liquid, plastic bags, plastic wrap, or cups with wax or plastic coating.

In Garden Grove, you can take your recycling to Garcia Recycling and Metals . Just by making a small change to practice more eco-friendly habits, we can make a big difference for our planet.

We Use Less Paper and Plastic

At Solara Apartments, we go paperless by doing everything that usually requires paper—rent payments, service requests, applications, and notices—online. On top of the convenience this offers our residents, it also eliminates the need for unnecessary paper waste.

In our community, we strive to provide quality services to help make your life as a resident a little easier. Visit our new resident portal to pay your rent online, enter a maintenance service request, browse our calendar for upcoming activities, and much more!

In addition, we have a water bottle refill station in the community, which can significantly reduce the waste from plastic water bottles. With the use of a reusable water bottle, we can all cut down on the plastic waste we produce.

We’re Excited to Announce Organic Waste Recycling!

Organic waste recycling will be coming soon to our local community, and we can’t wait to participate! This initiative will help keep millions of pounds of food waste out of landfills and turn them into compost and renewable natural gas.  We’ll keep you up to date as this program expands throughout the state.

We want to do everything we can to take care of the environment and live an eco-friendly lifestyle. If you are looking for an apartment complex that cares as much about the planet as you do, Solara Apartments is the perfect place for you!
