Local businesses, including restaurants, were some of the hardest hit by the pandemic in 2020. According to the National Restaurant Association, foodservice and restaurant sales fell by $240 billion last year. Jobs in the industry were down almost 2.5 million to pre-COVID levels.
Restaurants and local businesses need our support now more than ever. The good news is that we have fantastic local restaurants near Solara Apartments. Here’s a sampling:
Sabroso Mexican Grill
At 13129 Harbor Boulevard, this Mexican restaurant serves every meal of the day. For breakfast, there are platters with omelets, huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, and more, all served with tortillas and beans. For lunch, snacks, and dinner, you’ll find appetizers, salads, soups, seafood, house specialties, combination platters, and more. For drinks, there are specialties like fresh young coconut, agua fresca, Mexican sodas, and adult beverages like margaritas and sangria.

Butaton
If you’re craving ramen, Butaton Raman, at 10130 Garden Grove Boulevard #107, is the right choice. Ramen is the specialty at Butaton Ramen, so most of the dishes are noodles, including Butaton ramen, spicy tsukemen, and veggie ramen. But you can also find rice bowls—beef and chasu— and appetizers like kara-age chicken, spicy tofu, and baby fried octopus. For drinks, Butaton offers Japanese beers, sake, teas, and soda. The restaurant also has lychee sherbert for dessert.
Butaton has outdoor dining available as well as takeout.
SmoKING Ribs
If you’re craving freshly smoked meats, you can find this barbecue restaurant at 14211 N. Euclid Street, Suite D. The menu includes sandwiches, chicken wings, fries, blueberry cornbread, and much more. For smoked meats, it offers brisket, beef and pork ribs, and pulled pork.
Happy hour is from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with half off all starters and buy-one-get-one on select bottled beers. The restaurant also offers catering.
